Car Tyres: the Ten Commandments for Preventive Maintainance

- Pressures should be checked periodically when the tyres (including the spare) are cold. Never "bleed" or reduce inflation pressure when the tyres are hot (during or immediately after a journey), as it is normal for the pressure to increase in relation to the recommended cold values.
- Tyres must be replaced when worn to the tread wear indicators, even if only in one part of the tread.
- Check the steering alignment periodically and/or following impacts or irregular wear.
- Wheels should be balanced periodically and/or when vibration occurs.
- Following impacts and punctures ask your dealer to examine the tyre by removing it from the rim to ensure there is no internal damage.
- Never park on patches of oil, solvents, etc., as they may cause tyre damage.
- Observe the service description (speed symbol/category and load index.
- Radial tyres (even when new) must always be fitted on the rear axle; winter or studded tyres must fitted in complete sets.
- Driving style and speed directly affect tyre life.
- Have tyres inspected regularly by a reputable dealer.
